Biography
East Indian Sultan of Mysore and son of Hyder Ali Khan whom he succeeded in 1782. Reputed to be a cruel and tyrannical monarch, he advocated ethnic unity to rid India of the British. Tippu signed a peace treaty in 1784 but the intrigue and wars continued. Fighting in four major wars, he died in battle at Seringapatam, Mysore 5/04/1799.
