Biography
Iraqi terrorist attack. A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt inside a Shi-ite Muslim mosque. The bomb ignited cooking gas in a tanker parked outside the mosque. The massive fireball that ensued killed at least 54 people and wounded 82 people. The fire quickly spread over 1/2 mile and destroyed or damaged homes in its path.
The town in Babil Province is about 35 miles south of Baghdad.
