Biography
American fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. A favorite of generations, the Tarzan books continued with a series of episodes, and a number of motion picture and TV productions. The first film, Tarzan, was produced 1/27/1918, and the comic strip began 1/07/1929, with a come-back production of Tarzan look-alike, "George of the Jungle" produced by Disney Movies in 1997.
Among the actors who have played the role of Tarzan, there is Buster Crabbe in "Tarzan the Fearless," 1933; Johnny Weissmuller in 12 films, including "Tarzan Escapes," 1936; Glenn Morris, "Tarzan's Revenge," 1938; Lex Barker, "Tarzan's Magic Fountain," 1949; Denny Miller, "Tarzan the Apeman," 1959; Christopher Lambert, "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan," 1984; Jason Scott Lee, "The Jungle Book," 1994 and Gordon Scott in five movies, including "Tarzan's Hidden Jungle," 1997; Casper Van Dien, "Tarzan and the Lost City," 1998.
