Biography
Scottish diplomat from 1950 to 1985, in several diplomatic posts including Ambassador to Greece from 1978-1982 and to the Soviet Union.
He married fellow diplomat Jeanne Nutt in 1955.
He suffered a fatal heart attack in a London subway station on July 1, 1986, age 61. In 2010 his wife Jeanne published a memoir of their years together, "From Moscow to Cuba to Beyond."
