Biography
American famed TV personality, the host of his own TV variety show from 1950-1971. Over14 years he had a total of 14,000 performers on 724 shows. A former sportswriter, radio and vaudeville performer, he first entered the field of TV in 1948. With a Saturnine face, he became famous for his introduction of welcoming audiences to "A realllllyyyy biiiiggggg Sheeewwww" and he was often compared to a cigar-store Indian, stiff in motion.
Sullivan died of esophageal cancer on 10/13/1974 in New York..
