Source Notes
Penfield Collection quotes John McAleer, "Rex Stout," 1977 "which states that he was born very late at night." LMR quotes the same biography, p.36, "Temperatures dropped from 24 degrees at 7:00 AM to zero at Midnight ..... he was born as the thermometer plummeted." The date is also given by Baring-Gould in "Nero Wolfe of West Thirty-Fifth Street," 1969, but again, no time.
