American talk-show host, a shock-jock who reaches some three million listeners every day, a huge audience of people who find his irreverence and scatological humor hilarious. In his radio show, he screeds on masturbation, penis size and flatulence. Once out of the sound booth, he is said to be a bundle of insecurities.
His book, "Private Parts," was published in 1993 and sold a million copies the first week. It was made into a film four years later.
On February 25, 2004, his radio show was yanked off the air on six radio stations across the country for indecency. His offense was to conduct a sexually graphic conversation with Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend and allowed a racial comment from a call-in listener. Stern retaliated by repeatedly bashing the conservative Bush administration and urging listeners not to vote to re-elect the conservative President. After several months of facing criticism, he announced on October 6, 2004 that he will be taking his nationally syndicated radio show to SIRIUS Satellite Radio in January 2006.
He became engaged to Beth Ostrofsky on February 13, 2007. They married on October 3, 2008.
- worker relationship with Quivers, Robin (born 8 August 1952)
LMR quotes date from media; time unknown.
(Richard Nolle quotes Bruce Scofield for 1:15 PM, Jackson Heights, NY, no source. Scofield answers a query, "It was Dirty Data based on information from astrologer Basil Fearington several years ago. The time came from a TV show he watched in which several astrologers were discussing charts, one of which was Stern's. The time given was 1:15 PM. Years ago I was listening to his show and it was his birthday. At one point he mentioned that he thought he was born in the afternoon, maybe around 3. That chart has Cancer rising and I used it for a few years until hearing about the 1:15 time, which makes a lot more sense to me." In December 2004, Basil Fearrington explained to PT by e-mail: "You know how every city has an evening show, a kind of ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT kind of show? Well, many years ago, an astrologer appeared on on one of these shows to talk about astrology and his clientele. In his explanation of what he does, he started talking about Howard Stern. They did a closeup on the horoscope and the data was there as clear as day. Subsequent to that, I eventually met this astrologer in passing during UAC in Atlanta, 1998. I recognized him in the hallway and I asked him about the data. he said that it was verified from his birth certificate and I remember his words, "Trust me when I say that it is accurate to the second." In all my testing of the chart, I found that he was absolutely correct, so much so that I have no issues with using it publicly. "
