Biography

American film writer who, from 1933, wrote many screenplays alone and in collaboration. He covered comedy and light fare such as "I Was a Male War Bride," 1949, as well as incisive dramas. He was Oscar nominated for his script of "Mystery Street," 1950. Several of his plays were produced on Broadway, most notably the wonderful story, "Majority of One," 1959.

Spigelgass was a two-month premature baby. After his graduation for New York University, he started his film career as a reader and story editor.
