Biography
American space flight disaster. The Challenger lifted off on Tuesday morning from Cape Kennedy, Florida, watched by crowds on the beaches as well as on television. Eight miles up and traveling just under 2,000 miles an hour, the Challenger exploded one minute and twelve seconds after the 11:38 AM EST liftoff on 1/28/1986, killing all six on board.
