Biography
Brazilian politician, the mayor of Sao Paulo. Winning the city elections was a phenomenal feat and a total surprise as she was a woman, a leftist and was defeating ensconced traditional politicians. She had a background in Education and entered politics as an active City Councilwoman. She was known as a radical leftist for the Partido dos Trabalhadores, the Labor's Party. Her childhood was one of poverty in the Northeastern state of Paraiba. She is unmarried.
