Biography
American musician who is especially talented at arrangements, having worked as an arranger for Chico Hamilton, Oliver Nelson, Quincy Jones and Ahmad Jamal. He appeared in the documentary "Bold New Approach," 1966, and was on the Board of Directors of Composer's Recordings Inc.
Smith composed a number of musical numbers from 1953 on, including "Sonata for Cello and Piano," "Three Brevities for Flute," "Contours for Orchestra" and "Faces of Jazz."
