Biography

Canadian-American musician and composer, formerly a musical associate with Toronto Second City, keyboardist and actor on Saturday Night Live 1975-80, member of the Blues Brothers. He sequenced into musical director of the Gilda Radner show and film "Live in New York," before joining the David Letterman show as bandleader in 1982.

In early 1999, Shaffer signed with Nickelodeon to put together an all-children band that will produce original music for the cable network. The future plan is to start a music-based series that will be produced by Shaffer.
