Biography
American political activist, who along with Huey Newton co-founded the Black Panthers in 1966. Known for their flaming rhetoric and slogan of "Power to the People," the Black Panthers often clashed with police. In 1969, he was sent to prison as one of the Chicago Eight. By 1972 they had adopted new politically-oriented tactics.
