Biography

Hungarian-born Australian Holocaust survivor, a businessman who has written an autobiography published by his son Morry Schwartz in 2003.The Nazis murdered nearly the whole family whose fortune had come from real estate investments. In 1949, Andor fled the Communists with his wife and 14-month old chld Morry. Penniless, they moved to Israel, where they were able to accumulate savings, but they were forced by Israeli law to leave their new nest egg behind when they chose to emigrate. They landed in Melbourne, Australia in September 1958.

With the hard-learned lesson that "Only money can make you powerful," Andor Schwartz bought a 125-hectare dairy farm. "Six months after arriving in Australia I was a king!" He then bought a cafe and eventually became a builder, accumulating new wealth through hard work and business savvy.

In 2002, Morry published his mother Baba's book, "The Lost Art of Baking with Yeast."
