German physician, psychiatrist and notable psychic researcher, who devoted his time to the study of paranormal events connected with mediumship, hypnotism and telepathy. He investigated spiritualist mediums such as Willi Schneider, Rudi Schneider, and Valentine Dencausse. He is known for trying to "cure" homosexuals with hypnotic suggestion and taking them to brothels.
Schrenck-Notzing was married with Gabriele Siegel, the daughter of industrialist Gustav von Siegle. They had two sons, Leopold (born 1894) and Gustav (born 1896).
He died 12 February 1929, Munich, Germany.
