Biography
American actress noted for her 23 crisp, sophisticated career-girl roles. Her films include "Picnic," 1956 and "Auntie Mame," 1958.
The middle-born of seven children, she was considered a tomboy when young. Her happy childhood consisted of a good Catholic school education, values consistent with those of her lawyer father and teacher mother.. When she was 19, her father died and her mother was left to hold the family together. She married in 1941; one son. After the '60s she suffered with severe rheumatoid arthritis.
Russell died of breast cancer complicated by arthritis 11/28/1976, Beverly Hills, CA.

Jan Moore quotes her obituary in the Indianapolis Star 10/17/1977, "Her husband, Carl Brisson, said she was 65 but the press said she was 61 as the studio had changed her age."
Yolanda Stein writes (2/89) "Her birthdate was given to Garth Allen in confidence. In an AA mag a long time ago he wrote that her Moon was at 18 Leo. This computes to 1908, 4:00 PM."
Sabian Symbols No.815 gives 6/04/1910, 4:15 PM. Reference books give 1910, 1911, 1912. Jim Gorham found the date of June 4, 1907 given in the Social Security Death Index for Rosalind Brisson, her married name.
