Biography

French hematologist, geneticist and anthropologist. He founded a discipline of blood typing, which allows study of blood characteristics trace the history of the people, their migration and their subsequent mixes.

He was a member of the Academy of Sciences in the section of human biology and medical sciences. He was also an honorary professor at the Collège de France , where he held the chair of physical anthropology .

He was also a member of the Resistance.

He was a member of the board of the Centre for Science Royaumont Rights.

He died 1 July 2004.
