Source Notes

Penfield gave two times, 14.35 and 7.30, both without further origin. (PC gave January 28 as NS, 2:35 PM spec. Old-file had 7:30 AM spec.) Taeger cites Penfield but gives data a 3 rating of "no detailed origin".

Wojtek Suchomski writes per email on 11 February 2014: "The birth certificate of A.Rubinstein was compiled in Russian language, because Lodz was a part of the Russian Empire in the 19th Century. If you need translation into Polish I can do that but the source text is in Russian. The transliteration of the Russian text is as follows:

(...) i pryedyavil nam ryebenka moozhskogo pola, obyavlyaya, chto on rodilsya v' gorodi Lodzi Yanvara chestnad'tzatovo/dvadtzat' vosmowo dnya tekushchego goda v' dyesyat' chasov vechera.

(...) and he presented us a male child declaring that he was born in the city of Lodz on the sixteenth day of January/twenty-eighth day of January of this year, at ten o'clock in the evening.

I marked that sentence in red in the birth certificate scan attached (see at the right).

3. As you can clearly see from the quotation above the birth data was doubled, first it was a date in Julian calendar and then there was a date in Gregorian calendar, separated with slash. Also Polish names were bilingual, first written and then again in Latin."
