Biography

French writer, deputy and officer of the Legion of Honour. During WW II, as a resistance movement member, he was arrested, tortured and deported to Buchenwald. In 1948 with Sartre, Camus and Breton he founded the Rassemblement démocratique révolutionnaire. In the early 1950s he was one of the first to expose the existence of gulags in USSR. He collaborated to many French and American newspapers and magazines (Life, Time, Fortune).

Rousset married on 2/25/1939. He died on 12/13/1997, Paris.
