Biography

American screenwriter who specialized in fast-moving crime stories. From 1932 to 1958, Rivkin scripted many celebrated films, including "The Farmer’s Daughter" and "Dead Reckoning."

Rivkin was one of the earliest organizers for the Screen Actors’ Guild. Politically more moderate than many of his left-wing colleagues, he headed the strongly anti-communist Motion Picture Industry Council in the early 1950s and never hesitated to make his opinions public.

He died on 2/17/1990.
