Biography
American victim of prescription drug overdose at age 4. Whether it was accidental or intentional is under investigation in 2007.
Rebecca was diagnosed with bi-polar illness by a licensed psychiatrist at a reputable hospital when she was 2 years old. On December 13, 2006, the child died of an overdose of the prescription medication and her parents were accused of first degree murder. Prosecutors argued that the parents had their daughter declared mentally unstable so they could collect social security disability benefits and purposely fed her the overdose. The psychiatrist voluntarily surrendered her license while the case was under investigation and the case took on national proportion. The question became whether bi-polar or other serious mental illness can be diagnosed in a child so young and whether children should be given such strong psychotropic drugs..
