Biography

British-South African entrepreneur, a statesman and empire builder called the, "Diamond King." He moved to South Africa in 1870 and made his fortune in a short three years in the diamond fields. He was elected to Cape Colony assembly, 1881 and became Premier in 1890, helping to direct the Boer War in 1899. Rhodes left his fortune to public service.

He died 3/26/1902, Muizenberg, Cape Colony.
