Polish prodigy, chess boy-wonder. At age eight he played the 12 world's best chess experts at once. He won all the games in 29 minutes. An orthodox Jew, he and his family emigrated to the United States in 1920, after which time the spelling of their last name was changed to Reshevsky. He died on April 4, 1992 in Suffern, NY, age 79 of a heart attack.
He is survived by his son and two daughters.
Jerry De Gattis quotes personal correspondence with him, a fellow chess player, "He wrote to me in early March 1992, saying that his time of birth was in the early hours of the afternoon, and that Ozarkow is a small village about two kl. from Lodz, Poland."
(Church of Light quoted Practical Astrology 2/1927 for May 26, 1912, 23:59 MET for Samuel Rzeshewski, Ozorkow, Poland; apparently the same person but source unknown for the date or time.)
Wikipedia gives 1911 as birth year.
