Biography
American child injured at birth by medical misjudgment. Thinking the baby was premature, the doctor gave his mother shots to stop labor. The mother entered the hospital 5/17/1944, 6:00 AM and returned home the same day at 11:00 PM. The nurses were concerned as they reported that the baby's head was in the birth canal the entire time.
The mother returned to the hospital on 5/18/1944 c. 1:30 AM and Jimmie was born about three hours later; 6 lbs. 3 oz. His forehead was flat and he was not able to nurse (no suction). For his first three months, he had milk pumped into his mouth. The doctor decided that he was full term.
Jimmie did not develop properly and at six months, his parents took him to a different doctor, who said he was retarded due to birth injury during delivery. He was 1 1/2 before he could sit up and age 3 when he began to walk.
His mom kept Jimmie home for four years. With a divorce from his dad, she was not able to keep him and work, so signed over custody to his dad, with visitation rights.
When Jimmie was seven, his dad moved and did not let his mom know where he was. His dad put the boy into Camarillo State Hospital.
His mom found out his location in 1968 and found out that he is kept medicated due to extreme nervousness. He enjoys gardening, which he is allowed to do. His IQ is about 34.
