Biography
American athlete, he played professional basketball right after college. In 1950 he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1953, he signed with a Canadian football team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and in 1956 began his coaching career with the same team. He stayed with the team until 1966 when he became coach of the Minnesota Vikings. He retired in 1983 after a stella record, but returned in 1985 to coach for one more year. He was inducted into both the Canadian and US Football Halls of Fame.
