Biography
American abandoned baby girl, deposited by someone on the steps of a church wrapped in a filthy blue rag. At 10:00 PM, Mercedes Martinez heard a baby crying. The infant still had the umbilical cord attached and had not been washed. She could not be more than an hour old and would have easily bled to death if she had not been found. Martinez and her husband believed the baby girl, quickly christened Christina by the parish priest, was sent to them and they planned to adopt her, a happy situation for both the Martinez' and for the little girl who had a guardian angel.
