Biography

German Nazi military, a Sturmbannführer (Major), in the Waffen-SS during World War II who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II. Fritz Rentrop joined the NSDAP on 1 January 1936 and later joined the Waffen SS on 1 April 1937. He was posted to the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich and served with the 2nd Company, 2nd SS Flak Battalion when he was awarded the Knight's Cross, on the 13 October 1941. He later served on the staff in the IV SS Panzer Corps and is believed to have been executed by the Russians on 2 February 1945 in Hungary.
