Biography
American attorney, the chief prosecutor in Miami for 15 years before winning unanimous approval on 3/10/1993 from the Senate Judiciary Committee to become the nation's first female Attorney General. Unmarried. She revealed on 11/16/1995 that she has a mild form of Parkinson's Disease, diagnosed four weeks prior.
Living in a simple apartment in Washington and getting around by subway, Reno had formerly lived on a 21-acre homestead near the Everglades where she grew up with her journalist parents, three siblings and a flock of peacocks. Not big on the Washington social scene, the 6' 1" outdoorswoman describes herself as an "awkward old maid with a great affection for men."
Reno announced on 9/04/2001 that she will seek the Dem. nomination for governor of Florida in 2002, hoping to unseat Jeb Bush.
