Biography
German-American writer and novelist famed for his WW I novel, "All Quiet on the Western Front," 1929. He served as a German soldier in WW I, moved to the U.S. in 1939 and became a citizen in 1947. His work includes "Arch of Triumph," 1946 and "A Time to Love and a Time to Die," 1954.
Died of heart failure on 9/25/1970, Locarno, Switzerland.
