Biography
South African-British actor of stage and film for over 40 years. He is best known for the "Sherlock Holmes" series on radio and film in the '40s and '50s, though he showed considerable skill in a variety of roles. He was nominated for an Oscar for "Romeo and Juliet," 1936 and for "If I Were King," 1938, his last appearance on Broadway was in 1959. Rathbone died of a heart attack 7/21/1967, New York.
