Biography

German theologian, ordained in the Jesuit Order 1922. Just as he was beginning to make his mark, the University where he taught was closed by the Nazis, 1938. Rahner moved to a pastoral ministry in Vienna 1939-1945 where he achieved an immense literary output of 14 volumes and his noted "Foundations of Christian Faith." He established his reputation as the foremost Roman Catholic theologian of his day with an influence that continued to grow through his students around the world.

Rahner died 3/31/1984, Innsbruck, Austria.
