Biography
Portuguese journalist and politician, co-founder of the newspaper O Independente in the 1980s. With strong conservative political views he ran for Parliament in 1995 representing the People's Party.He began the party leader three years later. In 2002 he was named Minister of State and National Defense in a coalition government that included representatives from his party. After his party fell from favor in 2005 he began appearing as an analyst in a weekly news show.
