Biography

Italian ecclesiastic and Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, the 220th Pope, elected 4/09/1555. He was in office 22 days, dying of a stroke 5/01/1555 OS in Rome. Palestrini composed "Missa Papae Marcelli" in his honor.
