Biography

Italian ecclesiastic, ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1878, Archbishop of Bologna in 1907, Cardinal 1914 and elected pope 9/03/1914. Short, physically deformed, he had a bright, tranquil spirit and made positive changes in the church doctrine.

He died 1/22/1922, Rome.
