Biography
American athlete, pro basketball player sometimes known as J.C. Pollard. After an NCAA championship at Stanford University, his alma mater, he fulfilled his military duty during WWII. In 1947 he was drafted to the BAA team of the Chicago Stags. He retired from pro basketball in 1955 and went on to coaching. In 1952, the fellow known as "The Kangaroo Kid" for his ability to leap high, was named most valuable player of the era by the BAA (Basketball Association of American, forerunner of the NBA). He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1978 and died on January 22, 1993 in Stockton, CA.
