Biography
American lawyer, Congressman and U.S. President. Achieving his law degree in 1827, Pierce became a Congressman in 1829. A handsome, gentle man, he was the U.S. President for one term, 1853-1857.
Married to Jane Means Appleton on 11/19/1834, he had three sons. In 1833 and '34, two of his boys died and the third boy was killed in a railroad accident in December 1852, shortly after his presidential election. He was widowed in 1863.
Pierce died of stomach trouble on 10/08/1869, NH.
