Biography
American basketball player: guard/forward, Hornets He died on January 12, 2000 in a car crash. Police said that he and a friend were racing each other in a 45-mile-per-hour zone; the two achieved speeds of over 100 mph at the time that Phills spun out-of-control into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. Phills had just turned 30 a few weeks prior to his death.
