father's diary extract
David Fisher quotes Valerie Matthews for the biography by M. Drower, "Flinders Petrie," 1985, for "evening," rectified to 8:05 PM.

On 13 May 2013, Louise Vergette-Lynn wrote by email: "I'm just watching a documentary I recorded from BBC 4 (2012) called "The Man Who Discovered Egypt", about Flinders Petrie, one of my archaeology heroes (I studied it at Uni). It shows his father's diary on screen, giving a date and time of birth. 3rd June 1853, and a time of 5.45 - 5.55pm". Louise recorded the documentary and sent the screen copy shown on the right with the original diary entry.
