Biography
Israeli politician born in the USSR, a cabinet minister and colleague of Rabin, co-architect of the peace process in the mid-east. Shimon's work is during a period of upheaval, death threats and lack of unity.
Source Notes
Noel Tyl quotes a biography, "just as the sun was rising." Tyl states that the date is positively confirmed by Peres' son through Fernandez, his mutual acquaintance.
As frequently happens with data from the mid-east, there are several different dates available, all without source. Jane Statlander in Mercury Hour 10/1996 EXT gives August 2, 1923, transcribed from a Hebrew birth date, Vologhin, USSR, formerly Wolozyn, Poland, remarking that August 16 is sometimes given. The Hebrew calendar has a 13-day difference in the 20th century, giving the day from sunrise to sunrise. Statlander did not give an original date from which it was allegedly transcribed, nor a source.
