Biography
Portuguese Emperor, the ruler of Brazil. After declaring Brazilian independence 9/07/1822 Dom Pedro declared it an empire with himself as king and was crowned 12/01/1822. After nine years of political turmoil, he abdicated in favor of his son, Pedro II, 4/07/1931.
Married Maria Leopoldina de Habsburgo-Lorena, they had seven children.
Dom Pedro died of tuberculosis on September 24, 1834 in Lisbon.
