Biography
French ecclesiastic, a Trappist monk. On 3/17/1996, seven of monks were kidnapped from their monastery in Tibéhirine, Algeria and they were executed on 5/23/1996, reportedly by Muslim extremists. Their bodies were discovered on 5/30/1996 in Médéa, Algeria. In July 2009 a French general claimed that they were killed by an Algerian Army helicopter and that the French government had covered up the facts of their deaths.
The seven monks were: Brothers Bruno, Celestin, Luc, Michel and Paul, Father Christophe and Dom Christian.
