Biography
British-American writer and political activist. When his book, "Rights of Man," 1787, was suppressed by the British, he sought asylum in France. He was later cast into a French prison until released through the efforts of President Monroe and moved to the U.S.
Paine died in his sleep following a stroke 6/08/1809, New Rochelle, NY.
