Biography
American chemist called "the Henry Ford of LSD" as he was the maker of "Owsley acid" in the late 1960s and early '70s.

Original source listed as "Arthur Blackwell quotes a colleague from him" for date/time of January 22, 1935 at 11:05 AM; however in December 2003, Cathy Hand wrote to PT by e-mail: ADB qutoes Blackwell, and I have the Blackwell Collection, too, with the same date that ADB has -- Jan. 22. However, a few years ago I was doing some research on LSD and I found a different date for Owsley: Jan. 19 (same year, 1935). I managed to get in touch with Owsley directly, by email (did you know he's written some articles on astrology that were, at least at that time, posted on his web site?) and he told me he was a "Capricorn wood dog" and confirmed the Jan. 19 date. He wouldn't tell me the time, however -- only that his Moon was in early Leo. A little later, I was in touch with Ed Steinbrecher about Owsley's data (he, too, had the Jan. 22 date), and Ed subsequently got in touch with Owsley by e-mail also, and Owsley gave him the Jan. 19 date, and this time: 2:42 p.m. Ed forwarded Owsley's e-mail to me. This was about 5 years ago, and I don't know if I still have that e-mail -- it would be on some old backup disk if I did, and I'd have to go through a lot of old disks to see -- but I did makes notes in Solar Fire at the time and these are what I'm giving you the info from.
