Biography
American astronaut aboard the Challenger which lifted off 1/28/86; 11:39 AM EST from Cape Kennedy, FL. It exploded 1 minute 12 seconds later.
He imparted his enthusiasm for space in talks to secondary schools, colleges and youth organizations in a trip to Hawaii in 1985, making more than 90 public appearances in two weeks.
