Biography
American football player, a line backer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a twelve-year NFL veteran, Nickerson was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on 7/26/1987 after being picked in the fifth round of the NFL draft. He played for the Steelers for six years before being signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 2/01/1992. A superior player, Nickerson was named to the Pro Bowl in the 1993, 1995, and 1997 seasons. In 1993, he was also named inside linebacker on "The Sporting News'" NFL All-Pro team. At the University of California at Berkeley, Nickerson broke the school's tackle record before he even started his senior year. In addition, he was a finalist for the Butkus Award, given annually to the nation's top linebacker. Nickerson holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology.
