Biography
Russian royalty, the third son of Alexander I who gained the throne upon his father's death on 11/19/1825 OS when his brother, the Grand Duke Konstantin refused the office. Czar Nicholas married Princess Charlotte of Prussia 7/01/1817 when she took the name of Aleksandra Feodorovna; they had three daughters and four sons. The last absolute monarch, he died 2/18/1855 OS, St. Petersburg.
