Biography
British-born American diplomat who served in the American Foreign Service beginning in 1960. From 1981-1986 he served as Ambassador to three different countries. He served in the George W. Bush administration as a representative to the United Nations from 2001-2004. Bush and company tapped Negroponte to serve as ambassador to Iraq from 2004-2005. Again he was selected by Bush for another high level position. On April 21, 2005 he was appointed to the position of Director of National Intelligence. And on February 13, 2007 he was appointed Deputy Secretary of State under Condoleezza Rice.
