Biography
Japanese volcanic eruption on Miyake island, 118 miles south of Tokyo, of Mount Oyama volcano. It erupted twice on Tuesday, causing officials to order the evacuation of all remaining school children. The 2,686-foot volcano first erupted at 4:35 AM, sending out a cloud of smoke and ash for a five-mile area. It erupted a second time at 2:53 PM, sending another column of debris nearly two miles into the air. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
