Biography
Central American earthquake in El Salvador, 6.6 Richter magnitude, toppling hundreds of buildings and killing close to 300 people. It was the second big trembler in a month for a country still in mourning for damage of the prior quake. It flattened much of the center of San Vicente, about 35 miles east of San Salvador, with an epicenter about half way between the two locations.
