Suresh Bocas writes on the AstroDatabank website: "In 1962 in the month of march my country was under friendly british rule.In March 1962 the parliament passed a resolution to become an independant nation.Which was not fullfilled -declared- untill 31/08/1962 at 12AM in my nations capital of port of spain.Even though we became independant we still had a governor general.Which we replaced upon adopting our republican constitution in 1976.Which was adopted on the 1st/aug/1976.But the parliament met for the 1st time thereunder on the 24/9/1976.On which date we celebrate our republican status ever since( even though some of us somewhat know that the republican constitution was officially adopted on the 1st/08/) but also our independance also on the 31/8/."
